Everything You Need to Know About the All New Goodguys Salt Lake Nationals
Every year Goodguys always keeps an open mind for new event locations and one city that checked all the boxes last year was Salt Lake City, Utah. The Goodguys team never stares at the rearview mirror too long and we’ve got our eyes on the road ahead for 2020 and it’s looking scenic, smooth, and exciting! The first Goodguys Salt Lake Nationals sponsored by RaceDeck scheduled for May 15-17 at Utah State Fairpark will be the first time Goodguys has visited this picturesque venue and anticipation is high for a power-packed weekend – needless to say, we’re excited about this new addition!
We’re bringing the full Goodguys experience to Utah and getting an early start on the weekend with a scenic Hot Rod Cruise into the mountains on Thursday. The cruise will depart at 10am from the registration area at the fairgrounds and will end at RaceDeck for a Thursday evening Kickoff Party! “After being the preferred flooring of the GoodGuys for over a decade, our team is so excited to have the GoodGuys Rod & Custom Association 1st annual RaceDeck Salt Lake Nationals event in our hometown, RaceDeck owner Jorgen Moller said. “Salt Lake has such a strong custom car community, we know it will be a huge success!”
On Friday we’ll open the gates and the event will be in full motion! We’re expecting over 1,500 hot rods, customs, muscle cars, and pickups for the first year which will be joined with Goodguys AutoCross racing including the Great Salt Shootout held Saturday evening with four 4-car fields (PRO-X, PRO, Street Machine & Hot Rod/Truck).
More ground-pounding action over the weekend includes the Nitro Thunderfest exhibition, Burnout Competition held Saturday, and live bands on Saturday on the Goodguys stage!
We’re also planning on filling the buildings at the Utah State Fairpark with a jammed-packed Indoor Car Show, plenty of industry vendors on display, and fun activities for the kids including the Model Make & Take program. In an exciting partnership with the local Utah Valley University, they will be running the Swap Meet over the weekend and we’re confident they will organize a huge Swap Meet & Cars for Sale Corral for those who want to search for those hidden gems!
Saturday’s Special Parking Areas will be a main attraction and will include the Trick Truck Corral, Mighty Muscle, Camaro Corral, Ya Gotta Drive ‘Em, Youngguys Homebuilt Heaven, Deuce Doins, Tri Five Chevy Corral, and Goodguys Builder’s Choice. We’re excited to announce Dave Kindig with Kindig-It Designs will be selecting the Top 10 Builders Choice picks in Salt Lake!
The Goodguys staff will also be selecting finalists for the RaceDeck Muscle Car of the Year title and the LMC Truck of the Year Late title. The Goodguys media team will also be selecting the Goodguys Feature Pick as well as the Fuel Curve Pick – all four of these award recipients will receive features in the newly redesigned and newsstand distributed Goodguys Magazine.
The event will continue through Sunday with the Spectre Performance All American Sunday program where any year American-made OR American-powered vehicle is welcome to attend for the car show portion or All American Sunday AutoCross racing.
Our Rodders Church Service will be held at 10am and all Award-Winning cars over the weekend will be on display in the winner’s circle from 8am-2pm. As usual, our Awards Ceremony will commence at 2:22pm and at the end of the ceremony we’ll draw a lucky finalist to earn a chance to win the Goodguys Giveaway 1967 Chevy Nova come July – you must be present during Sunday’s Awards Ceremony to win the chance to be one of the finalists for the 2020 Grand Prize Giveaway!
The buzz circling around this new event has all of us at Goodguys excited for May and the feedback from rodders around the area have us thinking it will be a hit on the 2020 schedule!
