Craigslist Crumbs – Mint 1972 Mercedes 280 SEL

Here ya go Benz aficionados! The Mercedes 280 SEL doesn’t grow on trees any longer but here is the mossy exception. Most times you find one they’re patina paneled disasters not worth anyone’s time regardless if they’re listed for $800. It’s doubtful even Kars 4 Kids would take them.

But on special days like today, we find a rare Craigslist gem. A shining emerald of a car this one is quite literally a green gem from the GOD’s.

Listed in “excellent condition”, here’s numbers-matching 1972 Mercedes 280SEL 4.5L V8 is which has obviously been lovingly cared for. It’s a three-owner vehicle. California service records date back to 1978 and it has original owner’s manuals, maintenance books, and schematics. It is obvious this Mercedes has been the pride and joy of several genuine car enthusiasts. It even has the original radio.

The paint has been tastefully redone but it is the original factory Moss Green (factory code 834). The interior is 100% original if you can believe it and its mint. The ad is a little misleading in that the motor was rebuilt at 63k, and now has 75,654 as the listed mileage. But the seller estimates there’s 160,000 miles on the chassis? Strange.
