Goodguys 1967 Chevy Nova Giveaway Promotion Paused Until 2021

With everything that has been going on these past few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Goodguys has made the decision to pause the 1967 Chevy Nova Giveaway promotion and resume drawing qualifying finalists at the 10th Spring Lone Star Nationals on March 12-14, 2021.

The decision was not an easy one to make. With event cancellations, reschedule dates, and a longer than expected hold on hosting events in 2020, Goodguys felt it was the right decision to make. In doing it this way the 1967 Chevy Nova Giveaway program will not miss a beat as no finalists were drawn, or will be drawn, during the 2020 season.

The odds to win the 1967 Nova in 2021 will remain the same. The 22 qualifiers who earn a chance to win the car will be compiled from the 10 qualifiers who secured a spot during the second-half of the 2019 season, 10 remaining finalists from the first-half of the 2021 season, one online qualifier, and one random qualifier pulled from the Goodguys membership list.

This postponement will allow Designer Street Rods to display the Nova and their craftsmanship at events across the country to promote their shop as agreed upon. It will also allow the parts and pieces that industry sponsors provided to construct the vehicle to be showcased properly as well.

Pausing the 1967 Chevy Nova Giveaway for one year will delay the future Giveaway builds that are currently in construction, such as the Squarebody Chevy truck being built by Goolsby Customs. That 1985 Chevy truck was originally slated for a 2020 debut and 2021 giveaway but will now debut in Columbus in 2021 and be given away in 2022.

A lifelong car kid, Steven grew up around drag strips – his name may sound familiar because his grandfather is Bob Bunker, a Pro Mod pioneer who piloted the “Folsom Flash” ’55 Chevy from the ’70s through the ’90s. Steven’s father, Bob Bunker Jr., heads up Bunker Motorsports and is a regular in the West Coast racing scene, building chassis and race cars for more than 30 years. With genetics like that, it’s no wonder Steven has a passion for both cars and motorsports. In addition to helping his father and honing his fabrication skills at Bunker Motorsports, Steven began shooting photos at the drag strip and capturing the action with his Canon camera. He is now artfully crafting stories around the awesome machines at the shows, as well as the men and women behind them. When he's is not on the road covering events, he spends his downtime out on the water fishing, building his 1962 Chevy Nova, or cruising his 1987 GMC Suburban.
