We’re happy to announce for 2021 that overall winner is Logan Adkins from Bonner Springs, Kansas with his 1954 Ford F100. Logan was 24 years old at the time his F100 was selected at the 2020 Heartland Nationals in Des Moines, IA and the quality of the build has stuck with us, and Jonathan Goolsby, since.

Logan re-worked a modern truck chassis with new mounting points, suspension, and disc brake components before fitting the classic truck sheetmetal on top. Before placing the cab, bed, and front end on the chassis, Logan widened the rear fenders 3-inches, fabbed a custom rear roll pan, converted the cab to a big back window, made a tilt front clip, and preformed additional custom touches to the bed which is finished wood floor slats.

For power, a reliable 350ci small block Chevy was built and installed and backed with a turbo 350 transmission. This truck was built to be driven, and driven it gets! Logan preformed nearly all the work on his F100 including chassis and suspension fabrication, exterior sheet metal work, the pro touring styled upholstery, wiring and plumbing, and engine assembly and detailing. The only outsourced work was laying down the slick grey paint.

His ’54 F100 will be in the mix with the rest of the Goodguys 2021 Top 12 award winners as well as the two Chevrolet Performance Builders of the Year. Congratulations, Logan!

A lifelong car kid, Steven grew up around drag strips – his name may sound familiar because his grandfather is Bob Bunker, a Pro Mod pioneer who piloted the “Folsom Flash” ’55 Chevy from the ’70s through the ’90s. Steven’s father, Bob Bunker Jr., heads up Bunker Motorsports and is a regular in the West Coast racing scene, building chassis and race cars for more than 30 years. With genetics like that, it’s no wonder Steven has a passion for both cars and motorsports. In addition to helping his father and honing his fabrication skills at Bunker Motorsports, Steven began shooting photos at the drag strip and capturing the action with his Canon camera. He is now artfully crafting stories around the awesome machines at the shows, as well as the men and women behind them. When he's is not on the road covering events, he spends his downtime out on the water fishing, building his 1962 Chevy Nova, or cruising his 1987 GMC Suburban.
