A Blue Oval Celebration at the Holley Intergalactic Ford Fest

Automotive events were definitely hit and miss during late summer and autumn this year, with many not happening at all, and others happening at diminished capacity or with some social distancing and other health restrictions.

Our friends at Holley and FM3 Marketing were fortunate to be able to host a series of high-energy events at the historic Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in September and October, including their popular Holley LS Fest, the Mopar-focused Holley Moparty, and the Holley Intergalactic Ford Fest, held the weekend of October 2-4.

We had had correspondent Terry Lysak on the ground for the Ford Fest weekend and thought it would be cool to share some of the Blue-Oval action with you.

Cars and trucks from all over the region descended on Bowling Green for this fantastic Ford party, which celebrated just about anything and everything powered by a Ford engine. As an added bonus, the Ford Fest was held in conjunction with the NMRA during their World Finals – their largest drag race of the year.

It was a full-throttle weekend with plenty of action, including drifting, autocross, 3S Challenge, drag racing, a dyno challenge, show-n-shine, burnout competitions, a laid-back countryside cruise, and more. Highlights included Pro Formula Drift drivers Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Chelsea DeNofa in their insane drifting Mustangs, YouTube star Cleetus McFarland and his tire smokin’ Crown Victoria burnouts, and the original Bigfoot – the first of the famous monster trucks of the ’80s.

Add in a strong vendor midway and extensive swap meet, and you had the makings of a fantastic Ford-focused party!

These photos tell the story. There were Mustangs galore spread around the Kentucky hillsides, plenty of tire smoke and noise generated during the activities at NCM Motorsports Park, and a whole bunch of straight-line action on the Beech Bend drag strip.

In short, if you’re a Ford fan – or just a performance enthusiast in general – it was an awesome autumn weekend in Kentucky.
