Mopar 2017 Dodge Challenger 80th Anniversary Special Edition

Instant Collector’s Car: Mopar 2017 Dodge Challenger

The Dodge brand has been releasing special editions of its vehicles for as long as I can remember and practically has it down to a form of art. Announced at this year’s Chicago Auto Show, the Mopar brand celebrates its 80th anniversary by introducing a limited edition Mopar 2017 Dodge Challenger available in only two colors – Contusion Blue and Billet Silver. Only 80 examples of each color will be produced, which will instantly make them a coveted collector’s car now and the not so distant future.

This will be the eighth limited-edition, Mopar-modified vehicle delivered straight from the Brampton factory in Ontario, Canada. The easiest way to identify one of these special edition beauties is by their two-tone custom paint job. The lower half will be either Contusion Blue or Billet Silver; the upper portion will be a hand-painted Pitch Black. A special Mopar 392 logo will also be hand-painted.

Under the Shaker Hood is a 6.4-liter, 392 HEMI engine pounding out 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Other visual clues that identify the 80th-anniversary edition Challenger are a rear decklid spoiler with a Mopar Design badge and a Mopar cold air intake, sucking in air from one of the headlamp positions – a performance feature borrowed from the Challenger SRT Hellcat.

Interior exclusive parts include performance seats with embroidered Tungsten Mopar logos, and matching Tungsten stitching that extends to all parts of the cabin.

Content exclusive to the Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger includes a special serialized 80th Anniversary badge under the hood and an owner’s kit packaged in a custom Mopar box that includes:

  • Mopar welcome letter
  • “Birth certificate” with vehicle specs, date of manufacture, and proprietary VIN
  • Hand-signed Mopar ’17 rendering
  • Special Mopar ’17 booklet
  • Customized acrylic memorabilia showpiece
  • Mopar valve stem caps
  • Mopar-branded items, including a Mopar ’17 keychain and Mopar 80th Anniversary badge
