For the past three years the Lone Star Nationals has been the landing ground for the annual Hall of Fame Road Tour, and if you’ve been paying attention to Goodguys various social media outlets this week you already know we have two tours with 50+ cars each making their way to Texas. The West Coast tour departed from Pleasanton, CA and the East Coast group began their trip in Detroit, MI. Both tours are running as smooth as a 2,000+ mile road trip can go, and both will convene together at Summit Racing in Arlington, TX on Thursday.

Summit Racing plays a big role in the Lone Star Nationals by not only being the title sponsor for the event, they also sponsor the “Big Hoss Shootout” over on the AutoCross track and for the second year they’ll take over one of the NASCAR Cup Garages in the Texas Motor Speedway infield and set up their Summit Super Shopper Experience with hundreds of different manufacture’s parts on display and for sale.

All of that plus the exciting regular Goodguys event activities will go down this weekend in Texas! Over 2,000 hot rods, customs, muscle cars, and of course pickup trucks will be on display. We’ll have fun activities for the kids, a tire smoking Burnout Contest, three Nitro Thunderfest sound off’s, Team Texas will be giving rides in real-deal NASCAR stock cars, and participants will be able to cruise their own rides around the track during Saturday evening’s track cruise. Live music, informative vendors, kickin’ hotel parties, beautiful weather – everything is bigger in Texas, and this year’s Summit Racing Lone Star Nationals might be the biggest yet!

A lifelong car kid, Steven grew up around drag strips – his name may sound familiar because his grandfather is Bob Bunker, a Pro Mod pioneer who piloted the “Folsom Flash” ’55 Chevy from the ’70s through the ’90s. Steven’s father, Bob Bunker Jr., heads up Bunker Motorsports and is a regular in the West Coast racing scene, building chassis and race cars for more than 30 years. With genetics like that, it’s no wonder Steven has a passion for both cars and motorsports. In addition to helping his father and honing his fabrication skills at Bunker Motorsports, Steven began shooting photos at the drag strip and capturing the action with his Canon camera. He is now artfully crafting stories around the awesome machines at the shows, as well as the men and women behind them. When he's is not on the road covering events, he spends his downtime out on the water fishing, building his 1962 Chevy Nova, or cruising his 1987 GMC Suburban.
