Goodguys Top 7 on display at 23rd Southwest Nationals

There’s no doubt 2020 has been an unusual year, and that extends to most of the Goodguys Top 7 “Of the Year” awards selected in 2020. While Goodguys was able to host the Classic Instruments Street Rod of the Year and PPG Street Machine of the Year competitions at the Speedway Motors Heartland Nationals in July, other event-specific awards ran into detours.

The Goodguys team ultimately decided to use an online entry and evaluation process to determine four of its “Of the Year” awards for 2020, including Street Rod Headquarters Custom of the Year, March Performance Street Rod d’Elegance, Tanks, Inc. Hot Rod of the Year, and BASF America’s Most Beautiful.

The final Top 7 Goodguys award for 2020 will be the FAST AutoCrosser of the Year which will be decided by the winner of the Duel in the Desert shootout held Saturday afternoon at the 23rd Speedway Motors Southwest Nationals presented by Barrett-Jackson on November 20-22 in Scottsdale, AZ.

The Duel in the Desert winner will join the other six “Of the Year” winners for a showcase display of some of the top rides in the country! Each award-winning ride will receive the following:

Come check out these fine rides and more by joining Goodguys in Scottsdale on November 20-22! For more event information CLICK HERE.

A lifelong car kid, Steven grew up around drag strips – his name may sound familiar because his grandfather is Bob Bunker, a Pro Mod pioneer who piloted the “Folsom Flash” ’55 Chevy from the ’70s through the ’90s. Steven’s father, Bob Bunker Jr., heads up Bunker Motorsports and is a regular in the West Coast racing scene, building chassis and race cars for more than 30 years. With genetics like that, it’s no wonder Steven has a passion for both cars and motorsports. In addition to helping his father and honing his fabrication skills at Bunker Motorsports, Steven began shooting photos at the drag strip and capturing the action with his Canon camera. He is now artfully crafting stories around the awesome machines at the shows, as well as the men and women behind them. When he's is not on the road covering events, he spends his downtime out on the water fishing, building his 1962 Chevy Nova, or cruising his 1987 GMC Suburban.
